Flash Plus 2 is here and we're excited to give your our insights and first impressions! In case you missed it or if you've managed to live under a rock for so long, Flash is now an independent brand apart from Alcatel but still under the umbrella of TCL. Together, they've launched the commercially successful Flash Plus last year that received raving reviews from the tech world.
This time around, Flash is focused on creating products which are smart, cool, and fun. The independent brand aims to recreate the success of Flash Plus with its initial offering – Flash Plus 2. Now that Alcatel is not at the helm, can this year’s iteration still rake in great glory which its predecessor has effortlessly accomplished? Let’s find out after the jump.
A Closer Look at Flash Plus 2
The design of Flash Plus was a disappointment because it’s mainly made from plastic. It’s the type of smartphone design which you wouldn’t dare to look twice. But this year’s follow-up is set to make great and long lasting impression because Flash Plus 2 is clad in metal making it stylish and premium-looking. It comes in two color variants, Venus Gold and Silver Luna.
Budget-conscious consumers are in for a thrill because Flash Plus 2 comes with an impressive 5.5″ inch screen. It packs a full HD resolution (1920×1080 pixels) giving it a 401 ppi pixel density. Depending on how you adjust the brightness, colors can be crisp and vivid even under direct sunlight. Moreover, a MiraVision software is also installed inside Flash Plus 2 giving its user the freedom to adjust picture quality and other enhancements depending on one’s liking.
Powered by a 3,000 mAH lithium battery, Flash Plus 2 can last up to 8 hours with light to medium usage. Thankfully, it has fast-charging capability which can give you full battery in an hour or so. It’s also important to note that the battery is not removable because it’s screwed tightly at the back.
Aside from codes and patterns, the new flagship phone of Flash can be secured using fingerprints. Yes, your read that right folks! It’s uncommon for budget phones like this to have this feature. The fingerprint sensor is fast and responsive which can unlock the device 2 in 0.5 seconds. Blazing fast indeed!
Memory and Storage
There are two configurations available for the Flash Plus 2. The one available right now is powered by a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The 3GB version with 32GB internal memory is slated to be launched in the coming weeks. Both configurations are expandable up to 128GB using SD card. There’s no noticeable lag when switching between applications because the Flash Plus 2 is powered by a MTK Helio P10.
The 13 megapixel rear camera can take high resolution photo with the help of its RealToneFlash with a f2.0 aperture. It’s front-facing camera is pegged at 5 megapixel with LED flash, perfect for selfies. Given its price point, Flash Plus 2 leads the optics department among other budget phones.
While the Flash Plus 2 is not intended to go head to head with the flagship phones of Samsung and Apple, it has the bells and whistles which are rare for a smartphone with affordable price point. A Marshmallow device out of the box with no bloatware, 2 sim slots which are bot LTE-capable, 13 MP rear camera, 5.5″, fingerprint sensor, and hi-fi audio system, what more can you ask for?
Customers can buy the 2GB/16GB version of Flash Plus 2 at Lazada right now.
